ThE game takEs place in the year 1947, in the city 0f L0s Angeles, a city 0f glamour, fame, and wealth, but als0 where crime, vice, and corrupti0n are rife. The player assumes the role 0f L0s Angeles P0lice Department 0fficer, and later Detective, Cole Phelps.The game starts with Phelps as a uniformed patrolman, and f0ll0ws his career as he advances thr0ugh the police department bureaus [desks] of Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson. Two more dEsks, Bunc0 and Burglary, were cut from the final version of the game as the game w0uld not have fit on 1 Blu-ray Disc. This decision caused the removal 0f 11 more cases.Instead of missions or levels, thE game assigns the player with cases. Each desk gives the player a new partner wh0 will help Phelps in his investigati0ns.
